The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently compiled a listing of the 20 occupations expected to experience the highest projected growth in employment to the year 2024. This rapid job growth is expected in part because of the projected rise in the number of elderly people, which will therefore increase the number of clients requiring assistance. The BLS estimates 458,100 new jobs in this field by 2024.

Typically, there are no formal education requirements for retail sales workers. Most receive on-the-job training, which usually lasts a few days to a few months. The median hourly wage for retail sales workers was $10.60 in May 2015. Employment of retail sales workers is projected to grow 7 percent by 2024. The BLS estimates 314,200 new jobs in this field by 2024.

Anyone seeking employment as a customer service representative should be good at communicating with people. The median hourly wage for customer service representatives was $15.25 in May 2015. Employment of customer service representatives is projected to grow 10 percent by 2024. The BLS estimates 252,900 new jobs in this field by 2024.

15. Laborers and freight, stock, and material movers, hand
Laborers and freight, stock and material movers usually receive short-term on-the-job training to learn the skills necessary to complete their jobs. In 2014, there were 3,719,300 jobs in this field. Employment of laborers and freight, stock and material movers is expected to grow 5% by 2024. The BLS estimates 125,100 new jobs in this field by 2024.
16. First-line supervisors of office and administrative support workers
First-line supervisors and administrative support workers typically have entry-level education: High school diploma or equivalent. The median annual wage in May 2015 was $52,630. Employment of first-line supervisors and administrative support workers is expected to grow 8% by 2024. The BLS estimates 121,200 new jobs in this field by 2024.

No formal education is usually required for this position and on-the-job training is often provided. The median annual wage was $20,740 in May 2015. Employment of maids and housekeeping cleaners is expected to grow 8% by 2024. The BLS estimates 111,700 new jobs in this field by 2024.
High school graduates who have experience using computer software applications usually qualify for entry-level secretarial positions. Although most secretaries learn their job in several weeks, many medical secretaries require additional training to learn industry-specific terminology. The median annual wage for medical secretaries and administrative assistants was $36,500 in May 2015. Employment of secretaries and administrative assistants is projected to grow 3 percent by 2024.
